‘Happy Hour’ Makes Work Effective at RCESD

“Let us make every day full of surprises. Live everyday like it’s a celebration, never have a dull moment, and make every hour a happy hour”  Lilly Pulitzer

The Resource Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development (RCESD) organized an indoor ‘’HAPPY HOUR’’ introduced by the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, MBUNYA FRANCIS. Happy hour is a monthly routine and practice of RCESD staff. It always takes place every last Friday of a month.

Happy hour is the coming together of RCESD staff and a forum for discussion not related to work. It also involves sharing of ideas, food, drinks and others. It is also a good time to thank God for the work done throughout the month and an opportunity for RCESD staff to improve on interpersonal relationship with one another, so that team work becomes more fluid.

Interns on their first experience at RCESD often appreciate this moment as it helps bridge the gap between the administrators and themselves. In a one on one with an intern who attended the happy hour for the first time (Daisy Queen), gave the feedback that, Happy Hour is a splendid idea as it improved interaction with members of staff and that the cooking was excellent. She went further to say, there is no complexity during this special moment and she could see unity amongst working staff of RCESD.

It is often said “too much work without playing makes Jack a dull one”.
